Male infertility is half the story

Nearly half of all infertility cases involve a male factor. A simple semen analysis is the fastest, cheapest first test — yet it is often delayed.

A male factor contributes in roughly 40–50% of infertility cases, either alone or alongside a female factor. Skipping the semen analysis often means months lost.

The report looks at count, motility, morphology and volume. Hormone tests and a scrotal ultrasound follow only when needed.

Many causes respond to treatment: varicocele, infection, hormonal imbalance, and lifestyle factors like smoking, heat exposure, obesity and untreated diabetes.

When no sperm is found in the ejaculate, surgical retrieval through TESA or PESA combined with ICSI still offers a real chance of biological parenthood.
