Egg freezing: when is the right time?
Egg freezing preserves fertility for later — for career timing, medical treatment or delayed marriage. Earlier freezing means better quality eggs.
Egg freezing (oocyte vitrification) lets you store mature eggs now and use them years later. Because eggs age with you, the eggs you freeze at 30 stay biologically 30.
Common reasons include planning a family later, upcoming cancer treatment, endometriosis or surgery that may reduce ovarian reserve, and a falling AMH found on a routine test.
The process takes about two weeks: stimulation injections, follicular monitoring by ultrasound, egg retrieval under short anaesthesia, then vitrification and storage.
Embryo freezing is a related option for married couples, and surplus embryos from an IVF cycle can be frozen for a future transfer without repeating stimulation.
